It seems like everywhere I go, I see my stylish associates rocking the Gingham trend. I can’t blame them, it’s cute, colorful, and there are just so many styles to choose from these days. Will Gingham Style be the viral sensation of Summer 2017?!
You didn’t think I was talking about Gangnam style now, did you?
I was watching this trend from the sidelines until I saw this super, cute, yellow, crop top at Zara the other day. I loved the bright, yellow color because it reminded me of the Happy sunshine and long, simmering daylight hours we’ve been blessed with more recently in New York.
I’m a sucker for light, cottony blouses with details. I mean, how cute is this checkered print and summer cut?! Think picnic, sailboat, BBQ, Smorgasburg, waterfront boardwalk and amusement park, or a pedal-powered vineyard tour.
Below are some of my favorite gingham tops for you to shop!
I paired my Zara gingham top with this super, cute, black skirt that my mom got from the Gap in the beginning of this century (makes it sound vintage, right?) and is still one of her favorite finds that I “steal” from time to time.
I love skirts like this because they go with almost anything and are surprisingly comfortable. Anything high-waisted always flatteringly cinches your waist to enhance your already feminine, beautiful, hourglass figure. And the buttons! I fall hard for any skirt, blouse, jacket, or pants that are embellished with creative or prominent buttons. Safe to say, this skirt will be paired up with trendy new tops for the rest of this century!
For any spring and summer look, you always need a good pair of sunnies! I got these stylish white ones at Saks Off Fifth and I’m going to be adventuring in them all summer long. I truly loved how these sunglasses protected my baby blues while not taking over my whole look. They gently accentuated the white in the Gingham print bringing the whole look together with a softer summer edge.
For shoes, I went with these Snakeskin Platformed Espadrilles from Vince. One of my favorite things to experiment with is mixing textures and prints. These sandals give this look more dimension and more of a summery, bohemian vibe. I’ve been wearing them with literally everything and have gotten so many compliments!
“Matching” is in the eye of the beholder, so get creative and trust pieces you know just Feel right together, but aren’t based on the color wheel chart or the local store mannequin.
If there’s one suggestion I can give you this season, it’s to mesh current style trends with your own personality to create totally unique looks that make you feel at home, abroad, and that dazzle your spirit and everyone you meet.
Have fun shopping this look!
